Specialist Referral & Coordination

When you need a specialist, we connect you to trusted experts and stay involved every step of the way.

Sometimes the right care means partnering with a subspecialist. When that moment comes, we connect you with trusted specialists across Los Angeles — many, though not all, within the Cedars-Sinai network — and stay closely involved, so your care remains coordinated, informed, and seamless rather than fragmented across disconnected offices.

How Specialist Referral & Coordination Works

Your referral begins with a conversation in which we review your history, current concerns, and any relevant labs or studies to identify the specialist best suited to your needs. We then send a focused summary directly to that physician, so they understand your situation before you arrive rather than starting from scratch.

Because we manage much of your chronic disease management and preventive care in-house, the specialist receives a complete, organized picture of your health. After your visit, their findings are folded back into your overall care plan so nothing falls through the cracks.

How to Prepare for Your Specialist Visit

Before your appointment, gather a current list of your medications and supplements, along with any questions or symptoms you want to discuss. If you have recent imaging or outside records, let us know so we can include them in your referral.

We will confirm that any needed pre-visit testing, such as a lipid panel or EKG, is completed and forwarded ahead of time. This helps your specialist make the most of your visit and avoid duplicate testing.

After Your Specialist Visit

Once you have seen the specialist, we review their recommendations together and integrate any new diagnoses, medications, or follow-up steps into your personalized care plan. If new prescriptions are involved, we perform a medication reconciliation to confirm everything works safely together.

We continue to monitor your progress, coordinate any additional visits, and remain your central point of contact, so you always have a physician who knows your full story.

What Coordinated Referrals Offer You

  • A trusted network. Referrals to vetted subspecialists within Cedars-Sinai and across Los Angeles.
  • Shared records. Your history and relevant test results sent ahead, so you never start over.
  • One point of contact. We stay involved before, during, and after your specialist visit.
  • Integrated follow-up. Specialist recommendations folded back into your overall care plan.
  • Less duplication. Coordinated testing helps avoid repeated labs and conflicting advice.

Frequently Asked Questions

1How do I get a referral to a specialist?
Simply share your concern with us, and we will review your history to identify the right specialist and send a focused referral on your behalf. You do not need to navigate the process alone.
2Will my specialist be part of the Cedars-Sinai network?
Whenever possible, we refer including Cedars-Sinai, where Dr. Golian is credentialed, to keep your care closely connected. If a different specialist is a better fit for your needs, we will help you find one.
3Do you stay involved after I see the specialist?
Yes. We review the specialist's recommendations with you and integrate any new diagnoses, medications, or follow-up steps into your overall care plan, so you always have a physician who knows your full story.
4Will I have to repeat tests the specialist needs?
Usually not. We forward your relevant labs, imaging, and records ahead of your visit, which helps reduce duplicate testing and lets the specialist focus on your care.
5How quickly can a referral be arranged?
Because our membership model allows close, responsive communication, referrals can typically be arranged promptly. Timing for the specialist appointment itself depends on that office's availability.
